1943年,在瑞士Herisau,工程师 Bertold Suhner 在一间他租来的旧纺织工厂的二楼,开始了他日后为之奋斗一生的事业。在此之前,他与他的同伴在英国从事电子及高频技术行业,他们设计收音机、示波镜和电阻计一类的产品。万通的英文名称Metrohm,就是从电阻计的英文 "teraohm meters"演变而来的"Met"取自Metering(测量),"ohm"来自ohm(欧姆)。
Bertold Suhner 先生喜欢徒步旅行,而他也正是在漫步阿尔卑斯山的时候,遇到从 Ciba 著名的Basle公司来的一位化学专家。一切都是那么的顺理成章,作为电子工程师的Bertold Suhner先生和这位化学专家共同开发了万通的第一个pH计--这个发明只比美国 Arnold Beckman 博士发明的第一个pH值测量装置晚了几年。 

瑞士万通从原来最简单的规模,逐步发展成为今天全方位涉足所有的离子分析技术的赫赫有名的公司,在新千年里领先于世界离子分析领域。在以往的日子里,瑞士万通曾创造了多个"第一"的辉煌:

1950年,瑞士万通发明了第一支复合pH电极。 

1956年,瑞士万通开发出第一支活塞型滴定管。众所周知,这是今天市面上的滴定仪及液体控制系统中基本构件的雏形。 

1968年,也就是早在30多年前,第一台数字化滴定仪,第一支数字化电子滴定管,在瑞士万通诞生,此项创新令世人瞩目。 20多年前,瑞士万通研制出第一台16比特的微处理控制滴定仪。 早在1954年,瑞士万通设计出第一台应用于痕量分析的实用自动极谱仪,并且开发了一系列与仪器配套的新颖的电极。从那时起,万通一直处在这个领域的最前缘。

1987年,离子分析技术产生空前的突破性进展,伏安痕量分析技术使得测量浓度低至万亿分之一的离子含量变得可行。瑞士万通将离子色谱技术简化,把操作简单 但依然高效实用的离子色谱仪推向市场。十年之后,继续开发了高灵敏度、可靠安全的新型抑制器技术,这一切奠定了瑞士万通在离子色谱界崇高的地位。


In 1943, in herisau, Switzerland, bertold Suhner, an engineer, started his lifelong career on the second floor of an old textile factory he rented. Before that, he and his colleagues worked in the electronics and high-frequency technology industry in the UK. They designed products such as radio, oscilloscope and ohmmeter. Wantong's English name metrohm is evolved from the English "teraohm meters" of ohmmeter. "Met" is taken from measurement, and "ohm" is taken from ohm.

Mr. bertold Suhner likes hiking, and it was while walking in the Alps that he met a chemical expert from the famous Basle company of Ciba. Everything is so logical. As an electronic engineer, Mr. bertold Suhner and the chemical expert jointly developed Wantong's first pH meter - this invention is only a few years later than the first pH measuring device invented by Dr. Arnold Beckman in the United States.

From the original simplest scale, Swiss Wantong has gradually developed into a famous company involved in all ion analysis technologies, leading the world in the field of ion analysis in the new millennium. In the past, Swiss Wantong has created many "first" glories:

In 1950, Switzerland Wantong invented the first composite pH electrode.

In 1956, Switzerland Wantong developed the first piston burette. As we all know, this is today The prototype of the basic components in the titrator and liquid control system on the market.

In 1968, that is, more than 30 years ago, the first digital titrator and the first digital titrator Electronic burette was born in Wantong, Switzerland. In 1987, ion analysis technology made an unprecedented breakthrough. Voltammetric trace analysis technology made it feasible to measure ion content with concentration as low as one trillion. Swiss Wantong has simplified the ion chromatography technology and introduced the ion chromatograph which is simple to operate but still efficient and practical to the market. Ten years later, we continued to develop new suppressor technology with high sensitivity, reliability and safety, which has established the noble position of Swiss Wantong in the field of ion chromatography.
